Winter Glow Up
Dark evenings, soft lighting and peering through windows that transport you somewhere else.. here’s why winter’s invitation to wrap yourself up in warmth should start with your hair!
In the winter months, hair colour trends naturally move away from the fresh bright shades of summer into deeper, warmer, ultra light-reflective shades. Why is this? Well, firstly we put our hair through a lot in the winter months, it’s cold so we invariably have to blow dry it more frequently (no ‘wash and go’ for a while). Plus, central heating takes the humidity out of the air in our homes making them much drier environments which in turn causes our hair to dry out and split ends to visibly increase.
Winter warmth
Don’t worry, there is so much you can do to get that winter glow for your hair, starting with a tweak to your colour.. but before you read on it’s good to know that there’s more to warm shades then your standard red or copper.
Each colour is made of individual tones that when blended together create a unique shade. You can mix-up your regular brunette shade with a subtle injection of mahogany to give you that winter radiance. Or opt for a deep, velvet burgundy - to do this your colourist will combine a vibrant red with a tiny bit of purple.
What about blondes? Well, when gold and ash are blended together it creates a stunning butter-beige. The proportions can also be adjusted to contain a little more ash for healthy almond blonde highlights.
Truth be told, if your hair inspiration is edible or drinkable it generally makes a great colour!
So does that mean my favourite cool blonde shade is not a thing in winter?
Listen, hair that looks good is always a thing regardless of what’s trending! Wear what you love and what makes you feel amazing, that’s the best self-care you can give yourself. Just give your hair some extra TLC during the cold months; use a leave in conditioner, prime your hair with a protein-packed hair primer and finish with a blitz of shine to get that beautiful radiant glow.
Can I get the winter warmth without colouring my hair?
Oooh we have just the thing. Try an in-salon hair ritual. Prescribed to your hair needs, your hair is cleansed, scalp is massaged and condition treated to ultra softness and shine before being wrapped up in a warming hot towel to let the treatment work its magic. Bliss.
