A fashion and hair story
Philipp Haug, London hairdresser and co-founder of Fitzrovia salon Haug London Haus, led the hair teams for six London Fashion Week designers this season; Frolove (designer of JLo‘s wedding dress and one of Beyonce‘s outfits for her headline show at Dubai hotel Atlantis The Royal), Edeline Lee (as seen on everyone from Kate Middleton to Lily Allen), Helen Antony (Lady Gaga), Tamar Keburia, Gasanova and J’amemme. Here, we’ve asked him to round up the inspirations behind the hair look for each collection, enjoy!
HELEN ANTHONY: Power Dressing
Helen Anthony’s collection showcased strong, powerful designs that are worn by the likes of Lady Gaga, Philipp adds “there’s a lot of leather in the clothes as well as ties and high collars and some amazing suits, so we wanted to get that strength but at the same time a really pretty feeling into the hair. We worked with a side parting and created a bit of a wave off the face using the Schwarzkopf Osis Flex Wax and G Force Gel, then for some real softness we worked into the hair’s natural texture with Osis Air Whip Mousse to get just a little bit of hold. We then worked through very lightly with some tongs so it looks very undone.”
EDELINE LEE: A Fashion Story
This is the third season that Philipp has worked with London based fashion house Edeline Lee, with each season the designer brings a new concept to portray her collection. "The idea behind the project is a simple one: to celebrate family and how a handmade garment can bridge generations. Fashion is a powerful mode of expression: one that gives mothers and daughters a meeting point, a shared space between childhood and adulthood. Ilove spending time in the dressing room with mothers, daughters and grandmothers. I've seen so many women who wear my clothes sharing them with their daughters (and vice versa!). It brings me so much joy." explained Edeline.
The collection is photographed by Matthew Eades and styled by Lee's long term collaborator Katie Felstead who states: "As much as we enjoy spotting something new on a catwalk or unearthing a find in a vintage store, the best thing of all is discovering a gem in your own mother's wardrobe. But clothes are no longer simply handed down between generations - they're exchanged. A mother borrowing her daughter's clothes is a lovely thing."
The hair
“Edeline Lee took a different approach to Fashion Week this year, and we spent 5 days shooting a fashion story showcasing her designs on influential women and their teenage daughters, to show the versatility of her classic style. With a wide range of natural hair textures to work with, we wanted to give each model the best version of themselves so that they were comfortable in front of the camera rather than follow one theme. We used Schwarzkopf Professional’s Osis range to give everyone a polished finish.” explained Philipp.
Thank you to our product sponsor, Schwarzkopf Professional for their continued support and to the teams of talented hairdressers that we worked with across London Fashion Week this season.
